Today’s Thought

The phrase “spitting image” is a colloquialism that refers to someone who closely resembles their parent. While there are a few different origin stories for where the phrase came from, the meaning of all of them stays the same. Someone who is a “spitting image” of someone else is someone who is a perfect likeness of their parent. Genesis 1 tells us that we are created in the image of God. We are the “spitting image” of the Creator: physically, emotionally, spiritually. While it is easy to see our human faults and convince ourselves that we aren’t important, we have to remember that we are God’s likeness. You were created in the image of God, in his likeness, and he is proud to call you his child.

Prayer

Lord, help me to remember that I am your child, created in your image. I know that you are proud to call me your child.
