The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
Genesis 18:13-14

Today’s Thought

Can we really blame Sarah for laughing? She was well past child-bearing years, and God said she would have a son within the next year. Who wouldn’t scoff at that statement? But God followed up with a sobering statment: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Talk about a statement to set you straight. Just a few chapters earlier, God had been described as El Shaddai, God Almighty. Is anything too hard for the Almighty God?

If it seems too hard to believe, remember who you worship.You worship God Almighty, the one who spoke existence into creation. The one who made the Earth stand still. The one who raised the dead. Nothing is too hard for him.

Prayer

Lord, remind me who you are when I begin to doubt. Help me remember that nothing is too hard for you.
