Consequences of Sin (July 13 Devotional)
Scripture Meditation
Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.
Genesis 7:22-23
Today’s Thought
God is love, no doubt. But just because God is loving and merciful, it doesn’t mean that bad things won’t happen to us. The problem with sin is that it has consequences to it. Sometimes those consequences are small; other times, enormous. In Genesis 7, the consequences of mankind’s sin caught up with them, and they suffered for it.
The tough reality is that we can’t escape the consequences of our sins. We can, however, be forgiven of them and move forward, learning from our mistakes.
Prayer
Father, forgive me where I fall short and sin. Help me to learn from my mistakes and grow closer to you.
